The International Atomic Energy Agency’s (IAEA) Department of Safeguards will host a student competition in conjunction with Symposium on International Safeguards being held in Vienna, Austria from 31 October to 4 November 2022. The competition aims to promote creative thinking and wider awareness of the following five themes of this year’s Symposium:

 • Evolution of safeguards to date

 • Addressing contemporary challenges

 • Anticipating and preparing for a changing landscape

 • Leveraging innovations for safeguards applications

 • Engaging people and expanding partnerships

The authors of the best papers will be invited to attend the Symposium, with financial support to cover the cost of travel, in addition to being awarded certificates of recognition. Student abstracts are due by the 28 April 2022.
